We will show in this number of RECC, the five introductory chapters and the complete bibliography of the book (in english language) The theory of quantum phase transitions. Beyond the infinitely extended systems to be edited (2018) by Digital Editions of the Department of Mathematics-Universidad de La Serena. These chapters summarize very well some of the ideas expressed in two already published essays: Science and Realism. Beyond the unbearable myth of observer and Quantum Walk. By the roads of Shah-i-Zinda (Editorial Universidad de La Serena).
This essay is devoted to discuss fortress and weaknesses of the phase transitions theory, mathematically understood as the study of singularities of thermodynamic functions in the so called thermodynamic limit, subject intimately related to the notion of spontaneous rupture of continuous symmetries.
The book consists of 32 chapters, which include the analysis of various topics of the quantum theory of phase transitions and spontaneous symmetry breaking.
